A Celebration of Life for Jeremy Blanton, who was a Principal Dancer with the National Ballet of Canada from 1962 to 1971, took place on Jan. 23 at The Court at Palm Aire, a senior living community in Pompano Beach. Reverend Bernard J. Pecaro from Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Delray Beach led the service. A Power Point presentation showcasing photos from his outstanding dance career was displayed during the gathering.
The National Ballet of Canada stated, “Jeremy was known as one of the company’s most elegant princes and versatile dancers, celebrated for his exceptional partnering skills and musicality.” Prima Ballerina Veronica Tennant shared, “Jeremy Blanton was my Prince in Cinderella. He was indeed a prince – storybook handsome, engaging, and so elegant – with his gentle Memphis drawl, the epitome of a Southern gentleman.”
Beyond ballet, Jeremy also performed on Broadway in shows like “My Fair Lady” and “Chicago.” He later established a training program for the esteemed American Ballet Theatre (ABT II) and worked with Joffrey Ballet’s Joffrey II Dancers.
<p Among those who attended were Jeremy’s fellow residents from The Court, members from his church, and many friends. Born on New Year’s Eve in 1939, Jeremy passed away on Christmas Day in 2025-just six days shy of his 86th birthday. His extraordinary life touched many people including fellow residents, the ballet community, and countless ballet students he had the honor to teach.
