The trails managed by the Warwick Snowmobile Club have been open for a little over a week now.

Member Ryan Vaughan mentioned that they’re excited about the conditions this year, and it seems like local snowmobile dealers are feeling the same way.

“I’ve talked to multiple dealers in the area, and they are running out of sleds pretty fast actually,” said Vaughan. “People seem to be buying them up and getting them out on the trails and enjoying them.”

“We try to groom our trails non-stop to keep them in the best condition for all of the riders coming from everywhere around,” he added. “Last weekend, we had all of our staging areas full. So, there was a lot of riders. I’ve talked to a bunch of people from Chatham, the Windsor area, even a man up from Owen Sound came to ride our trails.”

Vaughan said he’s received many compliments about how well-maintained the trails are and how clear the signage is.

“I think people just like to get out and check other districts out. Buy your 2026 Snowmobile Trail Pass and on the Go Snowmobiling Ontario app, all of our staging areas are posted on that,” Vaughan said.

The club has already hosted its first event, serving close to 500 hot dogs and 15 litres of hot chocolate to riders.

Vaughan mentioned another free barbecue is happening this weekend, but donations are welcome to help with operating costs.

“Sunday, February 8 at the Camlachie shack, we are hosting a chili and hot dog barbecue. It will be starting at 11 a. m. until supplies last,” Vaughan said. “Like last weekend, we hope it’s another great turnout. I’m sure it will be.”

Vaughan reminds snowmobilers to ride safe and sober and stay on trails.

The local club manages around 170 kilometres of trails that start in Wyoming and lead riders through Forest, Watford, Arkona and Thedford.

It operates three clubhouses as warming stations located in Camlachie, just south of Forest, and just outside Warwick.

OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) typically oversees a network exceeding 30,000 kms of groomed snowmobile trails.
