The Hanover Police Service has announced that they have secured an arrest warrant for a suspected member of an organized theft group.

On January 12, a pharmacy in the area reported over $3,000 worth of cosmetics missing. Further investigation showed that the same suspect had stolen similar items earlier that day from pharmacies in Mount Forest and Listowel.

Teaming up with law enforcement agencies across Ontario, corporate security experts, and Canada Border Services, the Hanover Police Service has issued an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old Romanian national. He is wanted for theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

According to a statement from Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll, it was discovered during these joint investigations that this organized shoplifting group from the Greater Toronto Area has been responsible for nearly $500,000 worth of stolen goods from pharmacies throughout Ontario since January 2025.

A second male suspect linked to the theft in Hanover has also been identified and will face similar charges as police pursue an arrest warrant. The names of these suspects are being kept confidential while investigations continue across Ontario.

Previously, members who were believed to be part of this criminal network have been charged for similar shoplifting incidents targeting pharmacies and other large retail stores. Those individuals remain at large and their current locations are unknown.
