Violet Mac Donald (Wood) passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Wood and was born on January 23rd, 1945. Growing up in Mt. Thom was special to her, and she often shared happy memories of the Cove Road.

Later on, she made her home in Eureka, where she raised six children: Danny, Eva, David, Kathy, Brenda, and Mack. In the village, she was affectionately called “Mama Vi” by the local kids. Violet loved baking and started at homestretch Skokes before working briefly at a bakery; however, she continued baking for family and friends throughout her life.

Even though she carried the sadness of losing her first-born Danny, her family brought her immense pride and joy. She had 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with excitement for the upcoming arrival of another great-grandchild-number 12.
Violet was also a Nan to many chosen grandchildren-too numerous to name-and created many cherished memories over the last four years with Monica and the girls.

She is survived by five children: Eva Stewart (Doug) from Westville, David Rogers (Susan) from Plymouth, Kathy Rogers (Robert) from Forbroke, Brenda Rogers (Brian) from Springville, and Mack Rogers (Helina) from Westville. Her grandchildren include Monica Mc Donald (Mathew), Shawna Locke (Dylan), Robert Mackay (Coady), Derrick Anderson (Sam), Damon Anderson, Caitlin Rogers (Harrison), Morgan Mackay (Brea), Frankie Rogers, and Devin Rogers. She also has 11 great-grandchildren: Keegan, Kacey, Amayla, Castyn, Lilly, Spencer, Caraira, Allie, Thalia, Aria and Eli. Additionally surviving are her sister Brenda Rhyno (Robert) from New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews.

Violet was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Wood; brother Malchom Wood; sister Nellie Wood; oldest son Danny Rogers; grandson Zachary Anderson; and great-granddaughter Amara Anderson.

She leaves behind her dear kitty Angus-they were inseparable companions.

A visitation will be held at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville on Thursday February 19th from 2-4pm and again from 7-9pm. A funeral service will take place at Eagles Funeral Chapel on Friday February 20th at 2pm with Rev. Glen Matheson officiating. A reception will follow after the service.

When someone you love becomes a memory that memory becomes a treasure.

Nan I love you forever and always -Monica
