Pickering City Hall and the main library in the city are closed on Friday as staff work to fix an “unforeseen” plumbing issue within the building.

The problem was discovered on Wednesday and needed “immediate repair,” resulting in the closure.

Officials are hopeful that repairs will be done by Saturday, but they have announced that the buildings will remain closed until further notice.

During this time, staff members are available to assist residents via telephone and email. However, in-person services won’t be accessible at these locations.

“We appreciate your patience as we work to address this matter as quickly as possible,” the city stated in a news release. “Updates will be shared at pickering. ca and through our social media channels.”

For more information, please reach out to the relevant department at City Hall or contact the Customer Care Centre.
