Ottawa police have arrested a man from Kitchener and charged him with second-degree murder following the stabbing death of a man from Brantford.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in west Ottawa on Wednesday at about 7:10 p. m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man in critical condition.
In an update, police identified the victim as Shawn Challis-Eatough, who was 28 years old and from Brantford.
The officers began life-saving efforts until paramedics got there. After being stabilized by paramedics, he was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Anthony Meredith, 19, from Kitchener and Steve Vivian, 41, from Ottawa have been charged with second-degree murder by the police.
The accused made an appearance in court on January 29.
A press release mentioned that a 41-year-old woman from Ottawa was also detained on Thursday afternoon as part of this investigation.
This marks the first homicide in Ottawa for the year 2026.
