Three men have been arrested as part of an attempted murder investigation in Richmond Hill that took place earlier this month.
York Regional Police received a call to Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital on May 16, around 5:20 a. m., after a woman with a gunshot wound was reportedly dropped off by two male suspects, who then ran away.
The victim was taken to a trauma center where her injuries were found to be not life-threatening.
According to investigators, the shooting happened in a residential building located at Yonge Street and Yongehurst Road, close to Major Mackenzie Drive.
Police executed search warrants at two homes in Richmond Hill, confiscating two firearms along with an unspecified amount of drugs that included cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, alprazolam, fentanyl, and oxycodone.
The police have charged 29-year-old Sergen Dino from Newmarket and 31-year-old Deshaun Abrahams from Richmond Hill. Both face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possessing a firearm while knowing it’s unauthorized.
Dino is facing extra charges too, which include two counts of breaching probation and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
On the other hand, Abrahams has seven counts related to possession for the purpose of trafficking against him.
Authorities also took into custody 32-year-old Jason Zagazeta from Markham. He is alleged to be an accessory after the fact in the attempted murder case. He faces additional charges for careless storage of a firearm and for possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
Officials are urging anyone who has information to reach out to the police.
