A house fire on Saturday afternoon in a new subdivision of Cambridge resulted in $800,000 in damages.

Emergency services responded to Pointer Street, close to Maple Grove and Speedsville roads, just after 1 p. m.

According to the Waterloo Regional Police Service, the home was completely engulfed in flames at the time, but fortunately, no one was inside.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was investigated by police and the Cambridge Fire Department with assistance from the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal. They concluded that it was accidental and not suspicious.

The police provided the estimated damage amount.

There’s currently no information on how long the residence will remain uninhabitable.
