A woman from Hamilton is facing charges of embezzlement after $72,000 disappeared from a Community Living organization.
From 2021 to 2023, around $72,000 was reportedly taken from a fundraising account belonging to Rygiel Supports for Community Living in Hamilton, according to Hamilton Police.
Rygiel Supports for Community Living is a non-profit group that helps individuals with disabilities by providing supported living across 36 homes in Hamilton.
One individual has been charged following a forensic investigation, police stated.
Viola Galamini, 56, of Hamilton, was arrested on January 22. She faces charges including criminal breach of trust, fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and use of a forged document.
Galamini has been released and is expected to appear in court in April 2026.
