Helping a stranded driver led authorities to around $30,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine, resulting in charges against a man from Brampton, according to the OPP. (Photo: OPP)
The arrests took place early Friday morning at about 12 a. m., when the OPP received reports of two individuals walking on Highway 69, approximately 45 kilometres south of Sudbury.
Officers found the pair who explained that they had run out of gas and parked their vehicle on the side of the highway.
The police gave them a ride back to their car but discovered that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine and cocaine valued at an estimated $30,000, along with over $2,700 in Canadian cash.
Zachary Anderson, 30, from Oakville was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine.

The suspects are currently in custody and are set to appear in court in Sudbury on Saturday.
