A woman has lost her life and two others have been injured in a two-car accident on Monday morning in Pickering, Ontario.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash on Altona Road, located south of Pickering Concession Road 3 in the Cherrywood area of rural Pickering on Oct. 27 at around 10:45 a. m, according to Durham Regional Police.
An 85-year-old woman was driving a Pontiac sedan northbound on Altona Road when it was hit by a southbound Toyota SUV that veered into the northbound lane, police reported.
Authorities stated that the 85-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An 84-year-old female passenger in the Pontiac was transported to a trauma center in Toronto, where she is currently in stable but critical condition, police added.
The 74-year-old female driver of the Toyota was also taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The cause of this collision is still being investigated.
