The Simcoe County Home Builders’ Association (SCHBA) is hosting a lunch event on March 26 featuring Emily O’Brien, the founder of Comeback Snacks, a unique popcorn company. The gathering will take place from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m.

O’Brien started her business after completing a federal prison sentence and focuses on creating bold popcorn flavors while working to change how society views people with criminal records. Comeback Snacks, previously known as Cons and Kernels, is now available in over 1,200 stores across Canada and the United States.

This entrepreneur has earned several awards for her impactful work and leadership, such as the 2020 YWCA Hamilton Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship Award, the Women’s Empowerment Awards’ Entrepreneur of the Year title, the 2022 Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award for Community Service, and the 2025 Sobeys Diversity Award. In addition, she was recognized as one of the Top 50 Global Women in Sustainability in 2025.

O’Brien regularly shares her story with various media platforms including CBC, CTV, Global, , i Heart Radio, CHCH and VICE. She actively supports reintegration programs that offer education, training, and job opportunities for those who have faced previous convictions.

The lunch promises attendees valuable insights into entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and effective leadership. Tickets can be purchased through the association’s registration portal.
