July 26, 2017 – March 17, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the heartbreaking news of Maximus Mark Montgomery Hardy’s passing on March 17, 2026, at the tender age of 8.
Maximus was lovingly known by his Ojibway name Nigigoonhs (Baby Otter). He had a spirit full of happiness, curiosity, and a deep connection to nature. Much like the otter he was named after, he was playful and loving, bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him. His bright smile could light up any room and put others at ease instantly.
He was the cherished youngest son of Marcus and Samantha Hardy, serving as the heart of their large and wonderful family of eight. Family meant everything to him.
Max adored his sisters and would do anything for them. The love he showed for them was deeper than anyone might expect from someone so young. They were not just siblings; they were his closest friends and constant playmates.
A special bond formed between Max and his older brother MJ; he always wanted to learn from him, walk with him, and be part of all that MJ did. Max listened carefully, absorbed teachings quietly, and took in the love surrounding him in a meaningful way.
He shared a unique closeness with his mom; she was his little shadow who followed her everywhere. Their bond was strong, filled with warmth and unconditional love.
Max looked up to his dad with endless admiration. To him, his father was a hero-a role model-and also his best friend. It truly showed that Max was very much like his dad; they shared an incredible connection.
The great outdoors felt like home to Max. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding side-by-sides-embracing nature in a way that reflected a true connection to where he came from. His adventurous spirit brought joy to everyone who knew him.
Life’s little pleasures made him happy too: salt-and-vinegar chips, chocolate milk, and Cheerios were among his favorites. As a proud hockey player wearing number #6 on the ice, he played with heart and determination.
Maximus filled every space he entered with warmth, laughter, and love. Although his time with us was far too short, it held great meaning-he taught us all about family values, love, and living close to nature.
His grandparents Mark & Joan Hardy along with Tracey Giles (Cliff) & Jamie Prystay deeply loved him too-alongside many aunties, siblings, cousins, and extended family members. His presence always drew people together, and everyone feels this loss across our community
As he embarks on his journey into the Spirit World, we hold onto our memories of him tightly , knowing that his light will guide those he loved forever. He will be sorely missed but eternally cherished.
This message is shared from all of us: Marcus, Samantha, Kamlyn, MJ , Charly , Jakob , London , Georgia , and Sophia-with broken hearts
Service details: We will celebrate Max’s life on Saturday, March 28th ,2026 starting at11:00 am at Nipigon Legion.
