An 8-year-old girl has lost her life due to injuries sustained after being hit by a vehicle in Oakville, Ontario. A 47-year-old man has been charged, according to police.
An eight-year-old girl is dead and her mother is hospitalized following a collision with an SUV in Oakville on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency responders arrived at North Service Road West, just west of Dorval Drive, shortly before 4 p. m. for the accident.
Halton police reported that a 47-year-old man was driving an SUV on North Service Road when, for reasons still unclear, he veered off the road and struck a 39-year-old woman along with her eight-year-old daughter.
Initially, police stated that the girl was seven years old.
Both victims were taken to the hospital and later moved to a trauma center where it was announced that the child had sadly passed away.

There’s no update available regarding the condition of the mother.
Authorities mentioned that the driver stayed at the scene. He has since been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.
“With regards to our Collision Reconstruction Unit, there are various different things they’re going to be looking at: speed of the vehicle, direction of travel, where the collision took place, things of that nature. So that’ll form part of the investigation that is currently ongoing,” Const. Jeffery Dillon said.
