BGC South East auction backs programs and a special student event for over 6,000 young people.
An online auction in the community is set to make a real difference for kids and teens across South East Ontario.
BGC South East has kicked off its yearly fundraiser, with funds going towards sports, literacy, and STEM programs that benefit more than 6,000 local children and youth.
Director of Resource Development and Communications, Amanda Guarino shares some insights.
Organizers highlight that the funding helps create safe environments, mentorship opportunities, and ways for young people to gain confidence while learning essential life skills.
Guarino mentions that this is their first attempt at an online auction.
A portion of the money raised will also help bring Jay Dearborn in to speak with around 1,000 local high school students, providing motivation and practical advice.
Guarino expresses her thanks to everyone who contributed items for the auction.
The auction includes high-value items like a luxury vacation, a scenic flight over Kingston, and a VIP radio experience with New Country 98.9. However, organizers say the true reward is the support from the community.
The auction is live now and will continue until March 25 via the Bid Rush platform. All proceeds will go directly to BGC South East.
