With the growing popularity of the hit hockey romance Heated Rivalry, Guelph is eager to attract fans interested in checking out filming spots.

The six-episode Canadian series can be found on Crave, featuring all on-ice and locker room scenes filmed at Guelph’s Sleeman Centre.

Now, the city is being highlighted in social media posts as a must-visit location for fans wanting to see where the show was shot.

Alex Jaworiwsky, who manages tourism and destination development for Guelph, expressed her excitement about fans visiting the city and hopes they’ll become fans of Guelph too.

“There’s a lot of community excitement around seeing Guelph and the Sleeman Centre on Heated Rivalry and on a hit Crave TV show,” she told .

“We know that we have seen a couple hundred people out front taking selfies over the last few weeks. We’re seeing more people come to public skates,” she said.

“And we do know at least a handful of people who are coming out to our [Ontario Hockey League] Guelph Storm games that has either an interest in Heated Rivalry or an interest in hockey related to Heated Rivalry.”

Heated Rivalry is based on a book by Canadian author Rachel Reid. It narrates the story of two rival hockey players who develop feelings for each other, complicating their careers.

Crave mentions that Heated Rivalry had its most-watched original series debut within its first week, with two episodes now ranking among IMDb’s top 15 episodes ever aired.

A second season was also confirmed last month. The lead actors, Shane Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov were presenters at last weekend’s Golden Globes awards ceremony.

Snap That Selfie Then Explore More of Guelph

Jaworiwsky hopes that increased interest in the show will bring more visitors to Guelph.

As fans stop for selfies at filming locations or catch a Guelph Storm game while nearby, she encourages them to discover other attractions throughout the city.

“There’s a lot of cute spots and welcoming restaurants.. places to find and foster love and friendship,” she said.

“We do really encourage people, if they are coming to Guelph, to snap that selfie at the Sleeman Centre or to check out a Guelph Storm game to also explore more Guelph and downtown.”

She mentioned how thrilling it is as a lifelong hockey fan to see her city featured in this new sports-themed show..P(“I think it’s a really great way“). She continued saying it brings together themes that help break down barriers between people across Canada.

This week Ottawa Tourism changed its social media bio claiming itself as “birthplace of Shane Hollander.”.. Meanwhile,Tourism Hamilton recently shared photos showcasing some iconic filming spots from the show via Instagram stating:“

“these 5 Hamilton spots have seen some things.” Discovery Muskoka wants folks around too saying “come visit us at ‘the cottage’” which refers back towards one character calling loons “stupid Canadian wolf birds.”.....

The Show’s Influence on Local 2SLGBTQ+ Community

The buzz surrounding Heated Rivalry extends beyond just where it was filmed in Guelph. Alex Reaney leads Queer League Guelph-a group dedicated towards providing inclusive sporting events specifically catering towards members belonging within 2SLGBTQ+. They believe having queer representation reflected through this particular storyline resonates closely since many local players struggle fitting into gendered leagues offered currently available. “It highlights how important dismantling preconceived notions becomes,” stated Reaney noting ability should outweigh gender differences when enjoying sports together collaboratively with others!“Even just trying.. to showcase”-their words echoing sentiments aligned reflecting what exists concerning systematic expectations imposed amongst athletes!Actors Hudson Williams left right Connor Storrie star show titled heated rivalry airs streaming platform known called crave according Bell Media. Reaney pointed out how shows like Heated Rivalries shift perspectives further challenging what society deems acceptable norms regularly established within environments surrounding traditional male-dominated aspects prevalent across athletics space particularly regarding isolated marginalized individuals such as queers.

An Important Step Forward Breaking Stereotypes

Ann Pegoraro holds Lang Chair Sport Management University OfGuepf says individuals watching Fictional Series Are Keeping Eye On Real World Results!“The program ‘breaks stereotypes’ significantly observed through evolving hockey culture overall”-hoping major changes occur because slurs linked sexual orientation still persist frequently amidst games played! Hockey Canada reports 60%+ penalties issued directly correlate offensive language stemming from these beliefs therefore altering cultural dialogue engaging parents alongside children participating would impact significantly positively changing environment surrounding team dynamics entirely.”
