A midday collision created a serious situation for everyone involved, including the residents of a nearby home that suffered significant damage.

Shortly after 12 p. m. on Wednesday, Mar. 18, 2026, Kingston Fire & Rescue, Kingston Police, and Frontenac Paramedics arrived at an address on Sussex Boulevard near Fleet Street. A crash had happened where one vehicle hit a parked and unoccupied vehicle, causing both vehicles to collide separately as per information from local authorities. One of them hit a tree and quickly ignited while the other crashed through an attached garage on the property.

Kingston Fire & Rescue responded where one vehicle from the collision smashed through the garage door while another caught fire. Initially, firefighters were dispatched to respond to what they believed was just a vehicle fire call but later switched it to a rescue call due to concerns about structural damage caused by the impact.

According to Kingston Fire & Rescue, they found one of the vehicles “fully involved in fire.”

“Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire and secured part of the structure so they could safely remove the vehicle and ensure that it left in secure condition,” relayed by City of Kingston to Kingstonist on behalf of local firefighters.

The department confirmed that work was done to reinforce or shore up the garage so it wouldn’t collapse immediately. They couldn’t say if any residents were displaced because of this incident nor comment on how serious were injuries sustained by the single driver taken to hospital.

Kingston Police Media Relations Officer Constable Anthony Colangeli verified two vehicles were involved in this crash (with one being unoccupied), noting there “does not appear to be major injuries.”

“One vehicle struck a tree while another hit a garage,” he explained.

Colangeli couldn’t provide details regarding what caused this crash or if any charges would be filed related to it. According to police reports, only one driver went to hospital as precautionary measure with no passengers present in either car.

The intersection at Sussex Boulevard and Fleet Street is located within residential area north of Lincoln Drive and westward from Bayridge Drive.

The collision took place at southern intersection between Fleet Street and Sussex Boulevard marked above with red star. These two streets also connect at northern end near Hudson Drive. Graphic via Google Maps.

Kingstonist has requested additional information from police regarding possible charges laid , plus cause behind this collision.

This article will receive updates should new information become available.

Editor’s note : This article has been updated reflecting that only one out of two cars involved was unoccupied. Originally , Kingston Police mentioned both cars collided while driven leading up subsequent collisions. Local authorities later provided correction indicating just single driver existed during incident.

UPDATE (Thursday , Mar.19 ,2026):
According statements made by Kingston Police , investigators do not anticipate filing any charges against lone driver implicated within occurrence.
