A tragic accident involving an SUV and several loose horses has resulted in the death of one woman in Renfrew County, leading to an active investigation by local officials.

Emergency responders rushed to a distressing scene Wednesday night after a vehicle collided with multiple loose horses on Highway 132, just west of Renfrew, causing four deaths, including that of the driver.

The deadly single-vehicle incident took place in the Township of Admaston/Bromley.

The crash occurred at 9:30 p. m. OPP officers, along with local fire and emergency medical teams, were called to the scene of the single-vehicle accident involving an SUV and loose horses. No details have been shared about how the horses got out onto the road.

A 39-year-old woman from Arnprior was declared dead at the scene, while three horses also lost their lives due to the crash.

The Renfrew OPP is continuing its investigation, supported by members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, which includes a Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator.

“The OPP recognizes the emotional impact this incident has on the local community,” says an OPP news release.

Anyone who may have information relevant to this investigation is encouraged to contact Renfrew OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
