With great courage and strong faith in God’s promises, Bernie left this world for eternal life at age 88 during the early hours of Sunday, January 11th, 2026, surrounded by his family after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. He was the son of the late Ernest and Kathleen Miller (Flake) and is predeceased by all his siblings: Marshall (Dusty) Miller, Arnold Miller, Monica (Peggy) Oostrom (Martin), Joyce Harper (Al), and Ann Bruschke (Ed). Bernie was also predeceased by his wife and beloved mother of his sons, Theresa (2004). He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Margaret; four sons; and nine grandsons who brought him immense joy: John Miller (Valerie and their sons Samuel and Maxwell), David Miller (Reanne and their sons Michael and Ben), Peter Miller (Ornella and their sons Joseph, Matteo, and Nicholas), and Patrick Miller (Sherra and their sons James and Andrew). He is further survived by in-laws Anne and Bill Large (friends since grade one), Charlie and Frances Marshall, Cathy Marshall (Tom), Michael Marshall (Rena), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In 1996, Bernie retired after a successful 40-year career as a manager with Scotiabank. His outgoing personality made him excel in his role. He enjoyed singing, sailing, boat building, furniture making, being a proud 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He also took pride in serving St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, the Rotary Club of Guelph, and Basilica of our Lady. Additionally, he was a dedicated supporter of the National March for Life. We feel truly blessed to have had Bernie – Dad – Poppy guiding us throughout our lives.
