John (Johnny) Albert Sdao, who was 88 years old, passed away quietly at St. Josephs Care Group Hospital on Thursday, December 25th, 2025 in Thunder Bay, ON. He was born on June 5th, 1937 and was one of six children to Francesco (Frank) and Frances Sdao.

On October 29th, 1966 he married his soulmate, Donna Lynn Mc Cuaig. Together they raised two children in Fort William, ON (Thunder Bay).

John had a love for boxing and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He felt most comfortable with his family gathered around him for any occasion. After trying various jobs, he found his place at Great Lakes Pulp and Paper (Avenor). He was a caring husband, father, and papa who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife Donna; children Jennifer (Parker/Abigail) and Chris (Paula, Alison, Samantha); sisters Rose Barzan and Rita Georgison; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.

John was predeceased by his parents and brothers Peter, Ralph and Anthony; brothers-in-law George Georgison and John Barzan; sister-in-law Donna Sdao.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at 2 pm at St. Agnes Church led by Father Larry. A luncheon will follow the mass in the church hall. A private Interment for family members will occur later. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or another charity of your choice.
