Kathryn “Midget” Ann Canada, 83, of Mansfield passed peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Kathryn was born on April 12, 1941, in Crestline, to the late John and Phylis (James) Brown, Sr.
Kathryn proudly graduated from Crestline High School in the Class of 1959. She spent many years working at Pepsi Co. in Mansfield until she retired in 2003.
Outspoken and direct, Kathryn never held back when it came to sharing her thoughts. Beneath that bold exterior was a kind heart-she was a friend to everyone and loved by so many.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: a good movie, great music, and time spent with family. Whether it was a classic western or an exciting horror film, Kathryn always enjoyed a captivating story. She also had a soft spot for music, especially the smooth sounds of Al Green; his songs often filled her home with warmth and nostalgia.
Above all else, Kathryn treasured moments with her family. She loved gathering for cookouts where laughter filled the air along with delicious food aromas.
Her memory will be cherished by her son: Maurice (Rena Pitts-Canada) Canada Jr. of Mansfield; grandchildren: Marquis (Fiancé Nicole Glasner) Fortner of Lexington, Jerome (Melissa) Canada of Ontario, Nikita Carter of Ontario, and Martell Wright of Marion; along with 8 great-grandchildren including great-grandson Marquis (Rowan) Fortner Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents as well as siblings Jeannette Walker, Wayne “Dickie” Brown Sr., Gates Brown, John Brown Jr., and Elaine Floyd.
Friends may call on Monday, April 14th, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at First Baptist Church; 212 E. Livingston Ave. Crestline. The funeral service will begin immediately at 11:00am with Pastor Frank Bolden officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
