With heavy hearts and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Brenda Read at the age of 76, who left us peacefully at Sakura House Hospice on March 1, 2026. Born and raised in Paris, Ontario, Brenda spent over 40 years in Canning where she raised her two sons alongside her late husband, Frank. In her later years, she enjoyed time with her partner, Barry. Her life was filled with unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. She also welcomed her son’s friends into her home like family, making them feel loved and accepted. Being a mother and “Nana” brought her immense joy and pride.

She is survived by her sons, Justin (Ashley) and Michael (Cindy); her adored grandchildren Ryersyn, Campbell, Gallagher, Carter, Zachary, and Brooks; as well as her devoted partner Barry Buchwald. Brenda was the daughter of the late Mary and Kenneth Tune and daughter-in-law to the late Justin and Jean Read. Her siblings Marg (Bob) and Larry (Donna), along with a large extended family will miss her dearly. She has reunited with her late husband Frank (2019) and “daughter-in-love” Jolene (2020). Throughout her life, Brenda’s generous spirit shone brightly through volunteering at Stedman Hospice and being dedicated to Paris Baptist Church. As the activity coordinator at Versa Care, she took great pride in leading outings that brought joy to the residents. During her battle with cancer, she showed incredible grace, quiet strength, and unwavering optimism. Though we feel a deep void without her presence here among us now, the lessons she imparted about kindness and determination will remain forever.

Friends are invited to gather at Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home located at 1105 Rest Acres Road in Paris, Ontario on Wednesday March 4th from 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m., then again from 7:00 p. m. to 8:30 p. m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday March 5th at 1:00 p. m. The family kindly requests that instead of flowers memorial donations be made to Sakura House Hospice or Paris Baptist Church.

Online condolences can be shared along with donations at www. budgellfuneralhome. ca
