Derek Perry, who was often seen in Barrie and Alliston, went missing in June 2023 and hasn’t been located since; authorities believe he has died.

Three individuals facing charges related to the suspected death of New Tecumseth resident Derek Perry are scheduled to appear in court again on Monday after their prior hearings just before the holiday.

Jonny “Eddy” Gagnon and Brendon Blanchard both face charges of second-degree murder and committing an indignity to a human body concerning Perry’s disappearance. He was 34 when he was last spotted in mid-June 2023.

Authorities believe Perry is deceased but haven’t confirmed whether his remains have been found.

At the time he went missing, Nottawasaga OPP reported that Perry frequently visited Alliston and Barrie.

Gagnon, 31, faced charges about two years after Perry’s disappearance, with charges against 25-year-old Blanchard following soon after. Provincial police also charged Krystal Carleton, 36, with the same indignity to a human body charge and being an accessory at the time of Gagnon’s arrest.

All three suspects remain in custody.

No allegations have been tested in court yet.

During various court appearances before Christmas, there were indications that the case is likely set for another date on January 5 to schedule further proceedings.

Police made multiple appeals for information regarding Perry’s whereabouts after he disappeared.

The investigation shifted to a homicide inquiry once Gagnon and Carleton were taken into custody.
