Construction is set to kick off this spring for a new Costco in Oakville, but don’t expect to shop there anytime soon.
According to an update shared on social media by Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, the work on the building and site adjustments could take over a year to finish.
The new store will be situated on Wyecroft Road close to Burloak Drive and the QEW.
“Final site plan approval has been granted for the new Costco location in Oakville,” writes Burton. “With demolition underway and permits in review, construction is expected to begin this spring, pointing to a likely fall 2027 opening.”
The mayor also mentioned that traffic signal approvals have been given for the area, along with other infrastructure upgrades happening as well.
This new location will boast more than 1,000 parking spots which will include both surface and underground options. Shoppers can choose from 637 standard surface spaces or 306 underground ones.
There will be 16 surface parking spots available for disabled individuals and another six spots underground. Cyclists can park their bikes in one of the 16 designated spaces that will be provided.
A gas station is also planned for the site at the northwest corner near the intersection of South Service Road West and Rio Can Boulevard.
