The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) described the incident as a “head-on collision,” which resulted in the death of a passenger in one of the cars involved, according to officials. This tragic event took place shortly after 11:30 a. m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, on Taylor Kidd Boulevard near Coronation Boulevard, police reported.
Officers from the Lennox and Addington (L& A) County Detachment of the OPP responded to the scene along with Loyalist Township Emergency Services and Frontenac Paramedics.
“A passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two drivers were transported to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and the other as a precaution,” said L& A OPP in a press release.
“No personal information about the deceased or the others can be released at this time.”
The L& A OPP noted that their investigation is still ongoing with support from the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, which includes a Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator, along with OPP Forensic Identification Services.
