Peter R. Forrest, who was born on February 25, 1940, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy filled with incredible achievements and fond memories. Peter was well-respected in the business and scientific community, having held the position of Executive Vice President at VWR International before becoming President at VWR Can Lab in Canada. Even after retiring, he continued to influence the field as President of Thomas Scientific in Swedesboro, NJ.
He proudly served in the United States Army where he earned a marksman badge for his dedication. Outside of his professional life, Peter was known for his kindness and steadfast support as a husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He worked hard to achieve his goals but always maintained a great sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. He was actively involved in Presbyterian Churches in West Chester and Wayne and served on various committees including the Finance Committee and as an Usher during Sunday services.
Peter had a deep passion for gardening and enjoyed learning about history, particularly the Civil War era. He was also a devoted sports fan with a special love for baseball. His collection of sports memorabilia reflected this passion, and he loved attending games where he cheered enthusiastically for both the Patriots and Phillies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elsa S. C. (Nee Miguez) Forrest; children Robin Ann Forrest (Michael), Paul Francis Forrest (Tuyet), and John Patrick Forrest (Dr. Nicole); grandchildren Zachary David, Liana Sarah, and Asher John; as well as siblings Faith Buscone (Joe), Thomas Forrest (Kathy), Alberta Fitzpatrick (Bob), along with many nieces and nephews across New England.
Peter was preceded in death by his dear parents James and Eva (Nee Houde) Forrest; brothers James P. Forrest, Dennis Forrest, Paul Forrest; and sister Jacqueline O’Rourke.
A viewing will take place at The Donohue Funeral Home located at 366 W Lancaster Ave., Wayne PA on July 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens Cemetery in King of Prussia PA.
Pete will be fondly remembered for all he did for both his career and family-his impact will be felt by everyone who knew him.
