Ontario Provincial Police in Peterborough County report that officers saved a 45-year-old woman after her car went into Rice Lake early Tuesday morning.
The police were called to the lake shortly after midnight when a witness saw an SUV speeding off Wood Duck Drive, east of Bailieboro, Ont., and ending up in the water. The caller mentioned they hadn’t seen anyone come out of the vehicle.
Three officers quickly arrived at the scene. They took a small boat and paddled toward the SUV, using its headlights as a guide.
The officers then entered the water and pulled the woman out from behind the wheel. OPP stated she was brought to shore before firefighters took over her care.
