Police announced on Monday that officers from the OPP James Bay detachment found and arrested Jacob “Baby Face” Wallace, a 19-year-old from Mississauga, in the remote northern Ontario town of Moosonee on Thursday. He has been charged with first-degree murder and arson causing damage to property.

Still at large under a Canada-wide warrant for the same offenses is 19-year-old Isaiah Thomas Badger from Edmonton.

Authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, please do not approach but call the police right away.

Badger is advised to seek legal counsel and turn himself in.

What they are accused of doing

The York police report that on January 26 around 1 p. m., shots rang out at a commercial plaza near Winges and Rowntree Dairy Rds.

A man was found outside a business with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The victim has been identified as Sergio Lopes, a 65-year-old resident of Richmond Hill, and authorities believe the shooting was targeted.

In his obituary, Lopes was remembered as “a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, friend, and giver of the best hugs. While the world mourns the loss of such a bright beacon of love, the combined light of all those he has inspired and influenced will shine even brighter as proof of his great deeds and accomplishments.”

Wallace is believed to have driven the vehicle involved in Lopes’ murder. A black SUV thought to be connected to the shooting was later discovered burning on Kipling Ave., north of Woodbridge Ave.
