Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is currently investigating after Halton police shot and seriously wounded a man in Burlington early Sunday morning. According to the SIU, around 12:30 a. m., police were in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel on Plains Road East conducting a traffic stop. Officials report that during this stop, the 23-year-old driver attempted to escape by hitting a police vehicle. One officer fired at him several times, striking him multiple times. SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette mentioned that the man was taken to a hospital in Hamilton and has since been discharged. A woman who was also in the vehicle was not harmed.
