Two women lost their lives after the vehicle they were in collided with a pickup truck on Tuesday afternoon in Renfrew, Ontario, as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police responded to the crash on Highway 17 at approximately 12:45 p. m., according to a news release issued Wednesday morning. OPP temporarily closed the highway in both directions between Chenaux Road and Bruce Street.

The deceased, aged 54 and 78 from Val-des-Monts, Quebec, were driving and riding in the car, police stated. They were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The sole occupant of the pickup truck did not report any injuries, according to authorities.

Police mentioned that their investigation is still ongoing and urged anyone who saw or has footage of the accident to reach out at 1-888-310-1122.
