The city council will be asked to approve an operating model for this new health center that would be managed by YMCA of Eastern Ontario.
“It is important to note that while this new facility is intended to be city-owned, the partnership arrangement would see the YMCA contributing towards capital costs through fundraising and other funding sources, in exchange for running it as their new Kingston YMCA ‘Centre of Community’ under a long-term agreement,” stated a report to council from Neil Carbone, commissioner of corporate and emergency Services.
“Discussions are underway around necessary capital and operational agreements needed for this partnership; however, it’s likely that operating model would involve YMCA managing daily operations in line with all its programs and policies while clearly defining responsibilities for things like interior maintenance and day-to-day upkeep along with mechanical systems, utilities, and ongoing capital renewal duties.”

The redevelopment project for Invista Centre received approval back in March 2024 alongside plans for enclosing Culligan Water Park at Memorial Centre.
The city allocated $3 million towards initial design planning stages for Invista Centre’s project.The expansion includes plans for a competitive pool measuring 25 meters with ten lanes along with a leisure pool featuring spectator seating areas plus changing rooms,lifeguard spaces,and support facilities,a gymnasium designated for sports programming,a modern fitness area,multi-purpose studios catering group fitness classes as well as wellness initiatives,new reception area,locker rooms,and universal change rooms This has not loaded yet but your article continues below.
