Thomas (Tom) Patrick Nolan passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his family at Red Deer Regional Hospital. He was born on September 1, 1965, to Charlie and Myrna Nolan in Lacombe, Alberta. He married his dear wife Marilyn Nolan on November 3, 1990. Tom had a variety of interests such as racing, mechanics, business, and travel. For more than 30 years, he was a co-owner of Hopkins Construction where he made important contributions to the company. In his free time, Tom enjoyed everything about racing including working on cars, looking up parts, and of course hitting the drag strip. Racing took him all over Canada and the United States where he met many close friends along the way. Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona were two regular stops on Tom’s yearly racing calendar where he could enjoy great food, the thrill of the racetrack, and hang out with friends. Tom also owned Winners Choice Racing Products for several years where he could share his love for racing with others. His love for travel also led him and his family to places like Kelowna, Victoria, California, Hawaii, Madrid, and New York City where they made lasting memories together. Tom’s interests didn’t stop at racing or traveling for fun. He cherished time spent with family and dedicated many years to supporting his sons’ sports activities where he loved watching them play as they grew up. Tom particularly enjoyed going to soccer games and even coached with Lacombe Minor Soccer for several seasons. One of the highlights of Tom’s life as a soccer dad was getting to attend the famous El Classico match at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in 2014. Boating was another favorite family pastime of Tom’s; they have lots of summer memories spent out on the water. Tom was preceded in death by his father Charlie Nolan; and father-in-law Hank Pluister. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Marilyn; sons Austin (Marissa) and Thomas; mother Myrna; sisters Kristen (Mike) Vig and Charlotte (Scott) Nelson; mother-in-law Mabel Pluister; brother-in-law Steven Pluister (Traci); along with many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church. You can watch a livestream of Tom’s Celebration of Life at this link.
