It is with very heavy hearts that we share the passing of Richard Stephen Porichuk, Rick to some/Choppers to most, on Dec. 21, 2025 at the age of 75 at T.B.R.H.S.C., with family by his side following a serious stroke. Richard was the eldest child of Margaret and Steve Porichuk, born on November 16, 1950 in Fort William. Richard was raised in the East End and attended Ogden Public School and Northwood High school. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing (especially specs). In his later years he became an avid collector of sports memorabilia (go Detroit!), he also enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean with his sweetheart and don’t even mention casinos. Over the years Richard belonged to or ran numerous organizations, clubs and events (to many to mention). He was a very loving, caring and kind-hearted son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a very special bond with his great nephew and niece, Kingston & Willow. His generosity continued well beyond his family. Richard worked for many years at Abitibi Mission mill working in blowpits, SCMP and safety until the mill closed. Richard was not ready to retire, so he tried his hand at security in several places ending at Max Pawn & Loans, where they treated him like family. Richard is predeceased by his parents Margaret and Steve, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Richard is survived by his partner and soulmate of 30 years Renate Evans and her extended family, brothers Robert (Donna) and Ronald (Patti), nephews Jason (Lindsay, Kingston, Willow) and Justin (Samantha) of Maple Ridge, BC., aunt Mary Ann and many cousins. Thanks to the caring staff in the ICU and the homecare personal along the way. Special thanks to Richard’s closest friends you know who you are, words cannot express how grateful we are for your friendship, love and kindness to our brother Choppers. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on February 12, 2026 at the Slovak Legion from 1 to 4 pm. (If you would like to wear any type of Detroit apparel, please do so). If desired friends can honour Choppers memory with a donation to any local pet rescue or shelter of your choice. Condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com fbq(‘track’, ‘PageView’);
