A judge in London has taken back the strict house arrest bail that was given to a man from St. Thomas who faces charges following a sexual assault investigation, ordering him to return to custody while he waits for his trial.
Gregory Zehr, 44, had been released from custody on August 12, more than two months after being charged in connection with the reported attack and kidnapping. London police held a news conference in July asking for information from other potential victims and witnesses.
Zehr’s release came after a contested bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, which led to public safety alerts from both London police and the Waterloo Regional Police, whose area includes New Hamburg, where Zehr was supposed to live with his parents.
