The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is excited to announce a payment of $332,618 for the first quarter (from April 1 to June 30) to the Town of Wasaga Beach for hosting Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach.
Since the casino opened in November 2022, Wasaga Beach has received a total of $4,691,399.
The payments made to host communities follow a formula that’s applied consistently across all gaming locations in Ontario, which uses a tiered scale based on the gaming revenue generated at each site.
“Revenues from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement allow Wasaga Beach to invest in infrastructure and provide funding for critical community services,” said Brian Saunderson, member of provincial parliament for Simcoe-Grey. “Provincial revenues from Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach will help improve the quality of life for families across Ontario.”
Since 1994, host communities have collected over $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
OLG is proud to share profits from casino gaming with local communities, aiding economic development through infrastructure improvements and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting all profits back into the province.
In the last decade, service providers have contributed more than $3 billion in private-sector capital investment throughout the province. These investments have resulted in the opening of seven new casinos, two major resort developments and expansions, numerous gaming floor expansions, and new amenities beyond gaming.
