The Fieldgate Sports Complex is now officially open.
The grand opening on Saturday kicked off with a ceremony and ribbon cutting, followed by a full day of activities both indoors and outdoors – plus a chance to explore the brand new facility.
Olympic figure skating champion Elvis Stojko and pro skateboarder TJ Rogers made appearances to celebrate the occasion.
“The Fieldgate Sports Complex was built by the community, for the community,” said Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy. “Thousands of residents shared their ideas, along with local sports and recreation organizations, to help shape a facility that reflects Whitby’s growing needs.”
Before its official opening, the complex hosted several events for the Ontario Lacrosse Association Festival.
