Jane Clohecy, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), has shared that she will retire on Dec. 31 after 20 years of devoted service to the Town of Oakville.

Clohecy’s retirement comes after a 45-year journey in municipal government. Prior to joining Oakville in 2006 as the commissioner of community development, she held senior planning roles with Halton region and the cities of Markham and Toronto.

The Town of Oakville states that since being appointed by Town Council as CAO in 2020, Clohecy has been instrumental in steering the organization through challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic along with various legislative changes and pressures related to finances and growth.

Town officials mention that Clohecy will keep her focus on essential priorities for the organization until year-end, allowing the new mayor and council to decide on next steps regarding the CAO role and leadership requirements for the town moving forward.

“Serving as CAO carries tremendous responsibility and Jane has approached that responsibility with professionalism and a genuine commitment to our community. We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her every happiness as she begins this next chapter,” Mayor Rob Burton says.

“Together with council, senior leadership and our community partners, we delivered projects, programs and services that will benefit this community for years to come and I look forward to seeing its continued success,” Clohecy says.
