Oxford County council named a new deputy warden on Wednesday, adding to the day’s budget discussions.
Tillsonburg Mayor Stephen Molnar has been appointed as the county’s new deputy warden, taking over from Woodstock city councillor Sandra Talbot after her one-year term.
Upon being sworn in, Molnar expressed his gratitude to the council for the “long day of action,” thanked the county’s leadership team, acknowledged Talbot for her past year of service, and appreciated the councillors for “sharing that responsibility.”
Last year, both Molnar and Talbot were candidates for this position, which is determined by a vote among council members.
Molnar received congratulations from fellow councillors on Wednesday. The deputy warden’s job involves handling meetings and other county duties if Warden Larry Martin is unavailable.
“I think he will do a wonderful job,” Martin said. “It is good to spread it around and give everyone a bit of experience with the job.”
