A Grade 6 classroom at Oakville School swapped out a regular school day for games, prizes, and a pizza party, giving students a chance to celebrate their efforts and have some fun together.
The Grade 6 class was recently chosen as Brightside Dental Care’s Classroom of the Month, which brought Brittany Boschman from Country 93 to the school to meet the students, play games, give out prizes, and enjoy lunch from Pizza Hut.
Oakville School teacher Shauna Smoliak expressed her happiness about her class being recognized.
“It was amazing. I have a fun group of students who work hard and bring joy to every day,” Smoliak says.
She mentioned that the news came as a surprise, making the visit a great way to celebrate their classroom community.
“It’s been a while since we’ve had a pizza party here at Oakville, so we’re super happy to celebrate, and these kids sure deserve it.”

Pizza and getting to know the hosts
For Leah, the visit allowed her to meet the voices she’s heard on the radio.
“My favourite part was the pizza and getting to meet new people. I already knew Brittany, but I was wondering who the other morning show hosts were.”
The event gave students an opportunity to ask questions, interact with the Golden West team, and spend time together outside their usual classroom routine. With pizza on offer and prizes available, it made for an enjoyable change for this Grade 6 group.
The Brightside Dental Care Classroom of the Month program keeps inviting students to share what makes their class or teacher special each month with a new classroom selected regularly.
