The Sarnia Sting will have a presence at the upcoming U17 World Challenge.
Rookie defenseman Adrian Sgro will be playing for Team Canada White, and Equipment Manager Justin Vanderlaan will be part of the coaching staff.
Sting General Manager Dylan Seca, along with Saginaw General Manager Dave Drinkill, played a key role in selecting the teams for Canada White and Red.
The Canadian squads include 44 players from across the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), with 18 hailing from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Sgro has netted one goal and added two assists in his first nine games in the OHL.
He was picked by the Sting fourth overall in the 2026 draft.
The 16-year-old from Alliston served as captain of the Vaughan Kings U16 AAA team during the 2025-2026 season. He scored ten goals and contributed twenty-one assists over thirty-three games, while also accumulating one hundred penalty minutes.
Sgro stood out in the 2026 OHL Cup, guiding his team through round-robin play.
