A driver from London has tragically lost their life after a collision with a train on Friday in Tillsonburg.

The incident took place around 12:20 p. m. on Bayham Drive, according to Oxford OPP.

The car’s driver, a 56-year-old man who was alone in the vehicle, was transported to the hospital but unfortunately died there, police reported. His name has not been released.

Police mentioned that Bayham Drive between Highway 3 and Pressey Road would be closed for several hours due to the accident.

If anyone driving on Bayham Drive witnessed the crash, they are urged to contact Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Investigation into Elderly Woman’s Death Turned Homicide

On Friday, Essex County OPP revealed that a “sudden death” investigation initiated on Wednesday regarding a Leamington resident has now been classified as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Anita Goodings, aged 83.

Emergency services responded to an apartment complex on Sherk Street just after 2:30 p. m. on Wednesday for a wellness check. Upon arrival, they found the body of a woman.

A post-mortem examination conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service determined that foul play was involved in her death.

In a statement released Friday morning, police indicated they have “a limited description of a person of interest in connection with this investigation.” The suspect is described as a white male with a muscular build.

Authorities believe that this senior’s death is an isolated case. On Thursday, police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Residents were informed Friday to expect an increased police presence in the area while investigations continue.
