Turtle Fest is set to bring back both new attractions and beloved favorites as Tillsonburg’s key downtown event makes its return this week.
The yearly festival draws crowds to the town center and supports local businesses, according to Mayor Deb Gilvesy.
Activities are happening from June 13-14, kicking off on Friday the 13th with an afternoon art contest and exhibit starting at 4 p. m. at Station Arts Centre Gallery. Families can then head over to Annandale National Historic House at dusk for an outdoor screening of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
The fun continues at Annandale Historic House on Saturday morning at 10 a. m., running until 3 p. m. with crafts, turtle and snake displays, games, and more.
Downtown will be buzzing with activities starting at noon on Saturday. Some highlights include live music on the main stage at Broadway and Oxford/Baldwin streets, the Young Entrepreneur Alley on Ridout Street sponsored by Shaw’s Ice Cream, and an Agricultural Zone in the LCBO parking lot. Local restaurants will have patios open where patrons can enjoy food and drinks while taking in the music.
<p. In response to feedback from attendees last year, volunteers have organized a Food Truck Fairway on Brock Street – making it easy for everyone to satisfy their festival cravings.
The Entrepreneur Alley is a space where young residents up to 16 years old can showcase their small businesses, while the Agricultural Zone gives locals a chance to get up close with farm equipment and connect with Tillsonburg’s rural heritage.
