We are heartbroken to share that Giacomo Messina has passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 90. He was a loving husband to Girolama “Mimma” Messina. He was a caring father to Gaspare (late Mariella), Vincenzo (Connie), and Maria (Gaspare) Rubino. He took pride in being Nonno to Cassandra (Marco), Gabriella (Ryan), Nick, Jake, Gene (Jessica), Rocco (Angie), and Ellyana, as well as a cherished Bis-Nonno to Kassem, Amelia, Gemma, and Giana. He was a dear brother to Maria (Antonio) D’Angelo and the late Felice Messina (survived by Rosalia). Giacomo will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. People will remember Giacomo for his deep love for his family, his long career in the automotive industry, and his kind nature. He leaves behind memories of hard work and generosity towards everyone he cared for. He found joy in weekend visits from his favorite Lab, Willow. All he ever needed was a good plate of pasta along with several cups of espresso. You’d never leave without hearing stories about overcoming challenges during his childhood growing up in the aftermath of the 2nd world war. Visitation is set for Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Chapel at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor on Friday, September 25, 2026. It will run from 2:00 p. m. until 5:00 p. m., then again from 7:00 p. m. until 9:00 p. m. Prayers will take place at 8:00 p. m. An entombment and graveside service will occur at Heavenly Rest Cemetery on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 a. m., with a procession leaving Banwell Chapel at 10:20 for anyone wishing to attend.
