A major investigation led by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in charges against three men from Windsor and one from Sarnia.
The OPP’s Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) started looking into an illegal online cannabis business called “420 Highway” back in July.
Authorities discovered that cannabis products were being supplied and distributed from several locations in Windsor, without the necessary permissions from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) or Health Canada.
This past Wednesday, Essex County OPP officers, along with Windsor police and the PJFCET, carried out three search warrants in Windsor. Two of these were at residential properties, while the third was at a storage unit.
Investigators found significant amounts of dried cannabis, concentrates, hash, edible cannabis items, and vape products.
They also seized packaging equipment for cannabis, illegal tobacco products, and $24,000 in Canadian cash. The total estimated value of everything taken amounted to over $366,000.
The three men from Windsor, aged 41, 42, and 57 years old, along with a 28-year-old man from Sarnia face charges including possession of illicit cannabis, distribution of cannabis, possession with intent to distribute and sell it as well as possession of criminal proceeds.
These charges are still to be proven in court.
All four individuals have been released and are set to address their charges at a Windsor court during the last full week of November.
