A woman who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for her involvement in a homicide from 2024 in Richmond Hill has been arrested in Alberta, wrapping up a nearly two-year manhunt.

York Regional Police (YRP) confirmed on Wednesday that Katherine Bergeron-Pinzarrone, 27, from Mississauga, was taken into custody on July 9, 2026, by the Calgary Police Service.

She faces charges of second-degree murder related to the death of a 16-year-old boy from Montreal.

This incident dates back to August 8, 2024, when officers responded to a local hospital at around 6 a. m. after a stabbing victim arrived with life-threatening injuries. The teenager was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Police later identified him as a male youth aged 16 from Montreal.

At that time, authorities determined that two male suspects connected to the murder of the Richmond Hill teen were Lensly Francois, 31, from Saint-Hubert, Que., and William Gallant, 26, from Quebec City. They were reportedly involved in a major auto theft ring as well.

Arrest made nearly 2 years after homicide

The YRP initiated an investigation and collaborated with the BOLO Program along with the Calgary Police Service to track down the suspect. A Canada-wide warrant was issued while investigators worked to follow her movements.

The YRP commended the teamwork that led to this arrest.

“Through the dedicated work of our Homicide Unit and our partnership with the BOLO Program and the Calgary Police Service, the suspect in this homicide investigation has been located and arrested,” said Deputy Chief Ryan Hogan.

“This arrest marks an important step in seeking justice for the victim and his family and reflects our ongoing commitment to holding those responsible for violent crime accountable.”

The YRP indicates that the investigation is still active, urging anyone with more information to reach out to the Homicide Unit.
