The Ontario Provincial Police is looking into a crash on Hwy. 3 involving an e-scooter.

Authorities report that the accident took place around 7:30 p. m. on Thursday at Hwy. 3 and Todd Lane in La Salle.

“As the use of these vehicles continues to grow across the county, it is important for riders to recognize that e-scooters are not permitted on controlled access highways and are subject to Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act,” said a release from the OPP.

A 16-year-old from Windsor has been charged with running a red light and not wearing a helmet.

The OPP urges all riders to prioritize safety, stay aware of their surroundings, and follow the rules of the road.
