We are heartbroken to share the news of Daniel James Fountain’s passing at the age of 34, from Oshawa, Ontario, on July 28, 2026. This tragic event occurred after an accident on July 22, 2026, when Daniel was hit by a truck while crossing the street.
A gentle giant with a wonderful sense of humour, Daniel found happiness in his favourite activities: building with LEGO, collecting and playing Magic cards, gaming, and spending leisurely hours smoking meat on his Big Green Egg smoker. He was a talented electrician and proud member of the Black & Mc Donald team, where he earned respect for his skill, dedication, and kindness.
Daniel felt a deep loss after Kelly, the love of his life, passed away in a car accident in 2020. Though it was tough for him to continue without her, he still showed up for family and friends with warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength.
He is survived by his loving parents Dave and Heather Fountain; his dear sister Mandy Couper (Nick); and his newly cherished role as uncle to Jason Couper who brought him immense pride and joy. Daniel’s love for family and friends was unwavering. He will be remembered for his big heart, infectious laughter, and how he made everyone feel valued.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the first responders at Ross Memorial Hospital as well as Ornge ambulance services and Sunnybrook Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion toward Daniel. They also extend their thanks to Black & Mc Donald for their tremendous support during this challenging time.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday August 9th from 1:00 to 5:00 at the
Guild Inn Estate
201 Guildwood Pkwy
Scarborough
If you would like to honor Daniel’s memory with a donation instead of flowers, please consider giving to Sunnybrook Foundation or another charity close to your heart.
