Anton Ivan Jelic passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Marija Alivojvodic and a caring father to Marko Jelic (1966), Kathy Harder (Dale), Tony Jelic, Cindy Schincariol (Dennis), and stepson Nick Alivojvodic. Anton was a proud grandfather to Robyn (Tyler), Mark, Matthew, and Maija. He is also survived by his dear sister Franka Neumann and will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Anne Jelic (nee Prpich), his parents Ivan and Marija Jelic, in-laws Ivan and Marija Prpich, siblings Marko Jelic and Julie Mesic (Stevo), as well as brothers-in-law Steve Prpich, Danny Prpich (Marija), Mary Saffran (Nick), and Fred Neumann. Those who knew him will remember Anton for his warm smile, great sense of humor, and polite demeanor. He loved his family deeply and always ended conversations with “I love you,” something his daughters hold dear.
Born in Jezerane, Croatia on November 25, 1939, Anton moved to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1957. Proud of his Croatian roots, he worked various jobs across Ontario from Elliot Lake down to Hamilton before finally settling in Windsor in 1963. He married Anne Prpich on July 11, 1964. Anton enjoyed many trips with family to Hamilton and Mississauga to visit friends. A dedicated worker at the GM Trim Plant for three decades, he was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus Kardinal A. Stepinac Council #11774. A bird lover throughout his life, he raised many birds and had a passion for cars that saw him spend countless hours working on them. The family appreciates everyone who supported them during this tough time; special thanks go to the Palliative Staff at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus-especially Loretta and Morgan-as well as staff from Home Instead and Bayshore for their outstanding care along with Dr. Peter and his team.
