A part of Hwy. 403 westbound in Oakville was closed early Friday morning following a serious two-vehicle accident that resulted in one death and left another person injured, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Emergency services arrived at the westbound lanes near Dundas Street East shortly after midnight, where the two vehicles had collided. OPP initially indicated that injuries were being assessed and advised drivers to expect delays while the highway remained shut down.
By 5:25 a. m., police confirmed that the westbound lanes had reopened, but later announced that the crash was fatal.
One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult woman was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, as per OPP.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is encouraged to reach out to OPP.
