Douglas (Doug) Earl Hall passed away peacefully at Hospice Quinte on May 31, 2026. Doug lost his battle with glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer. He fought bravely and never complained, believing he could overcome it until he couldn’t. Doug was 71 years old. He was born in Sudbury, Ontario on August 4th, 1954 and is predeceased by his parents Ivan Lorraine Hall and Willa Mc Naughton. Doug was a loving husband to his wife Nancy (Davis). Family meant everything to him, but he would do anything for a friend.
Doug loved and took great pride in his blended family of children shared with Nancy: Del Mac Gregor (Kerry) Brighton, Shawn Mac Gregor (Julie) Brooklin, Travis Mac Gregor (Erin) Trenton, and Richard Hall (Ann) Gloucester. He adored his grandchildren Jessica, Alivia, Camryn, Chelsea, Autumn, Noah, Charlotte and Bellamy.
He proudly served in the RCAF for 35 years as a Military Flight Engineer. In addition to serving his country, he enjoyed volunteering at the airpark of the National Airforce Museum of Canada. Fishing and golfing were among his favorite pastimes too. He took pride in being part of the Brighton Legion. Doug cherished many winters spent as a snowbird in Florida where he formed lasting friendships.
Doug and Nancy were fortunate to have a strong circle of family and friends who stood by them through thick and thin. They were there for both joyful moments and challenging times; it’s hard to imagine how life’s final days would have been without their support. Doug is survived by brother-in-law Larry Davis (Terri) and sister-in-law Marie Davis (Denny). He was predeceased by brothers-in-law Denny, Doug and Jimmy Davis.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the wonderful care from long-time family doctor Dr Koshela Ranjith, palliative doctor Dr Erin Gow, staff at TMH ER and 2C as well as Hospice Quinte. The love and comfort provided to Doug during his last days exceeded our hopes. We also want to acknowledge the home caregivers including PSWs, nurses who attended him at home along with coordinator Carly from OHAH. Thank you all.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. If you wish to honor Doug’s memory with a memorial donation, please consider Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation or Hospice Quinte.
Doug’s memory will stay alive in the hearts of everyone who knew him well.
